Commissioners Proceedings Statement - Monday, July 9, 2018
By James Krotz ja Present were Chairman Loren Paul, Commissioners Jack Andersen and James Krotz, Clerk Sindy Coburn, Assessor Tina Skinner and Appraisal Consultant Susan Lore. The Commissioners approved the subdivision of a rural parcel of 2.23 acres for Rodney Kemp to be sold to Larry and Deborah Galyen. The Board accepted the resignation of Jim Kearns from the Veterans Service Board and appointed Ken Frey to the vacated position. The Board approved the appointment of Gary Binger to serve as chairman of the Veterans Service Board. Thank you to Mr. Kearns for his faithful service to the veterans of Sheridan County. The Board approved and the Chairman signed a commitment letter with Gardner, Loutzenhiser and Ryan P.C. of Chadron for audit services. The cost of these services is to be $16,750 plus expenses. Road Superintendent Tom Kuester reported that water is still over the road east of Pleasant Point. The short-term plan is to place markers along the road corridor that are tall enough to denote the road surface and short enough to permit the passage of farm equipment. The scheduled consideration of a permissive exemption for the Sandhills Art Center did not take place because the representative of the Center did not appear. Acting as the Board of Equalization the Commissioners heard the Property Valuation Protests of property owners through the remainder of the day. The next meeting of the Commissioners is scheduled for Monday, July 16.
All meetings of the Board of Commissioners are held in compliance with Nebraska Open Meetings Act and the public is always welcome.
